Ben Abraham, DO, CMD

Dr. Ben AbrahamDr. Ben Abraham’s passion for medicine blossomed from a young age. Even as a child growing up in Jakarta, Indonesia, he knew that he had a great desire to care for others–specifically as a physician. That passion and desire came to fruition as a young adult. Due to the hard work and perseverance of his parents, he was able to move to the United States to pursue his education and career. As a college student with almost nothing, he knew that there were several years of hard work and dedication ahead of him, but this was all a part of the process that ultimately led him to a lifetime of cultivating and exercising this care of others. As a young student and thanks to the generosity of a local family in Texas, he attended Howard Payne University (Brownwood, TX) and ultimately received his medical degree at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in (Philadelphia, PA). He continued his post-doctoral training in Erie, PA. Dr. Abraham then began his career by working in the Emergency Room for almost a decade. It was during this time that he also began working in a local family practice. In 1992, he moved to Georgia to open his own medical practice, where he has now been practicing for 30 years. Dr. Abraham cares for the whole family while specializing in geriatric patients. He has board certifications in Family Medicine and additional certification in Geriatric Medicine. His unique passion to care for the elderly was found during his time working as a nursing aid when he first came to the United States. He saw the lack of thorough and extensive care for older patients, and his passion for caring for the elderly grew. As this passion grew, so did his experience. He sought out opportunities and ended up working as a Medical Director at two nursing homes for almost 25 years each. Though he no longer practices in nursing home centers, his care for the elderly continues in his private practice.Dr. Abraham is marked by his genuine passion for medicine, excellent diagnostic capabilities, and true compassion for people. He knows and cares for the whole patient, mentally and physically. He is seen as a truly relational physician for the entire family. He never ceases his commitment to a comprehensive health approach for all patients from their first day to their last. When not practicing medicine, Dr. Abraham enjoys traveling worldwide doing medical missions. He has traveled to Russia, China, Tanzania, Peru, Senegal, Argentina, Venezuela, Ecuador, and Indonesia. After returning to his country of birth, Dr. Abraham saw a great need and established the 127 Legacy Foundation to help assist and facilitate care for vulnerable women and children in Indonesia (127legacy.org).Dr. Abraham has four children and eight grandchildren (who affectionately call him “Opa”).Community Medical Involvement:
