Battle the Bulge the Non-Surgical Way!

The holidays are upon us and that means family, fun and food! What’s great about this time of year is the excitement in the air and the generous spirit that comes with it. The only downside may be the extra pounds we pack on after the holiday craze has ended. Abraham Medical Cosmetics sees a good bit of patients who are interested in achieving a slimmer, more defined body contour but aren’t ready to go the surgical route.

Battle the Bulge the Non-Surgical Way Our fat and cellulite reduction treatments are some of our most popular cosmetic services because they don’t require you to go under the knife and you can enjoy little to no downtime. One of the latest treatments we offer is Zerona® to reduce fat and inches from your hips, buttocks, upper arms and back without the pain and down time associated with traditional surgery! FDA approved for fat reduction, Zerona® uses a laser setting to liquefy the fat within cells below the skin. A Guide to Beach-Ready Skin: Chemical Peels

Getting beach-ready skin that won’t break the bank is a lot easier than many of our patients may think. The providers of Abraham Medical Cosmetics often get a lot of questions from patients about facial rejuvenation procedures that don’t necessarily require a lot of treatments or downtime, yet produce great results by restoring the healthy glow of their youth. One of the treatments we recommend are chemical peels as they are ideal treatments to help you give your skin the year-round rejuvenation it deserves. Below we answer three frequently asked questions we hear from patients considering chemical peel treatments.

What are chemical peels?

Chemical peels are carefully-crafted chemical solution treatments to improve the overall appearance of facial skin. Utilizing compounds like alphahydroxy acid (AHA), beta hydroxy acid (BHA), or retinoic acid, chemical peels remove the outer layers of damaged skin and regenerates new skin cells to reveal healthy skin underneath. The end result is smoother, firmer, healthier skin.

Which peel is right for me?

Each peel targets specific skin concerns from sun damage (age spots), acne, fine lines, wrinkles and uneven skin tones. What is a chemical peel procedure like and is there any associated downtime?

Treatment times depend on the specific peel we use, however all of our peel treatments take 30 minutes to an hour. We start by cleansing the skin to remove dirt and oils from the face before the chemical solution is externally applied (a cooling device is used to reduce discomfort). Lastly, we cleanse the face to remove any residual solution. Within the first 24 hours following your cosmetic procedure, the skin may appear flushed and possible facial swelling may occur. The first day or two after your treatment, the skin then goes into a peeling process that can last one to two weeks as new skin gradually reveals itself. Generally, all of our peels require no recovery or downtime and you are able to return to regular routines immediately.

The Sun Knows No Season

Sun damage is an infamous factor in the development of skin cancer and aging.
