Women’s Care

Women’s CareAnnual exams such as mammograms and pap smears are an important part of detecting abnormalities and illness in women early. Our experts at Abraham Medical in Snellville, GA (outside of Atlanta) recognize the sensitivity surrounding these issues and approach women’s care with the utmost respect and understanding. Abraham Medical team providers are attuned to your privacy and provide well women’s care in a discreet and relaxed environment.

Well women services include yearly assessments such as breast exams and pap smears as well as assessment of gynecological problems in order to maintain the health of the female reproductive system. Transitional periods like menopause cause hormonal imbalances and sometimes result in postmenopausal syndrome, which is why we concentrate on creating harmony within the body to minimize the symptoms of menopause or other transformative times.

Abraham Medical’s providers emphasize your comfort and ease in our women’s care programs in order to offer you the best experience and address your needs and concerns.

Breast Exams

Breast exams are performed to determine if any questionable growths within the tissue are present.  Mammograms are used to screen for breast cancer and are important for early detection of breast cancer. The U.S. Preventative Services Task Force (USPSTF) suggests women over the age of 50 receive mammography screenings every two years. However, patients who fall into the high risk category (having a family history of breast cancer) may need to receive more frequent mammograms as directed by their physician.

Gynecological Problems

A part of well women care, the field of gynecology includes maintaining the health of the female reproductive system. The Abraham Medical Team provides well women services in a private, comfortable setting.  We urge our female patients to receive annual exams to determine the presence of gynecological problems so that we may recommend appropriate treatment.

Menopause/Post-Menopausal Syndrome

When a female enters their late 40’s or early 50’s, the female reproductive system slows and eventually stops due to a decline in ovarian hormone production. This process, called menopause, is often accompanied by postmenopausal syndrome that causes unwelcomed symptoms in response to hormonal imbalances. The best way to treat postmenopausal syndrome is to rebalance progesterone and estrogen under the supervision of a physician.

Pap Smears

A screening test used to detect gynecological problems, pap smears should be performed regularly (every couple of years unless abnormal results occur) once a woman reaches 20 to 25 years of age.  During a pap smear, a physician takes a sample of cells from the cervix. The sample is sent to a laboratory to detect any abnormalities or gynecological problems. If results are abnormal, diagnostic testing may be performed to determine the appropriate course of treatment or appropriate referrals.

Well Women Exams

Well women exams typically include a pelvic exam (Pap smear) and breast exam to ensure a woman’s health and identify any gynecological problems. If abnormal results are present, more tests may be performed to determine the proper course of treatment. Patient comfort is top priority at Abraham Medical; therefore, all well women exams are performed in a private, comfortable setting.
